Field Day 2008!

Last Thursday was Field Day for both of the kids. It was nice to have them both on the same day this year. Jeremy's was in the morning and Nicole's was in the afternoon. It was a windy but nice day. The sun shone a little bit, but it stayed mostly cloudy and with the wind it was really quite comfortable.
Both kids competed in 3 or 4 events. They really had a lot of fun. Below you will find some pictures from their day.
Here is Jeremy, being Jeremy as he waits to compete in his first event.

Here is most of his class getting ready to play. They were "Adam's All Stars". Their color was white. That is why they are wearing the white bandanas.

This is Jeremy doing the "Leaky Water Relay". The can they are carrying on their head is filled with water, but it has holes in it, so it leaks all the way down. They are trying to get as much water in the bucket as they can in the time alloted.

This relay is called "Make a Noodle". They take turns running down and adding a piece of pool noodle to the pole. After the last piece is put on the pole, the last person runs down and empties all of the piece into the bucket and then runs back and sits down. The first team done wins!

After all of the relays have been run the each of the kids get to run down and sit on a water balloon. The idea is that they and their teachers get wet. This is the kids' favorite event.

Here is Nicole with her class. You might be able to tell that their color was yellow. They were "Laird's Lightning Leopards".

Nicole's first event was the 1/4 mile run. Here she is lining up to run.

Here she comes around the last turn to the finish line. She didn't get first, but she ran great!

This is Nicole after running the Leaky Water Relay.

This is the Lilly Pad Relay. They have to jump with two feet in each of the hula hoops, run down and around the cone and back. When they get back they have to jump in the hoops again. Nicole ran last in this relay and this is her running back. You can see the boy two lanes over running in too. Nicole ran fast enough to tie with him for first place!

Here she is holding the first place card! She was really excited that she was able to help her team win!
I didn't add any pictures of her popping the balloon, but she got to do that too. After everything was over everyone got snow cones. Another highlight of the day. (Jeremy did this too). It was fun to be there to watch them and I really appreciate my friend who offered to keep Max all day for me, so that I could really concentrate on watching the kids.
