Baptism Birthday!

August 25th was a big day in our family and especially in the life of Jeremy. On Saturday, August 25th, Jeremy turned 8! He was now old enough to be baptized a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

He was fortunate enough to be able to be baptized on his birthday. He was also fortunate to have many family members from out of town be here to participate with him on this special day. His Aunt Holly and her kids came first. Then the day before his birthday Grandma and Grandpa Brough, Grandma and Grandpa Crandall, Uncle Brent, Aunt Dixie and their kids and Uncle Scott all came.

Saturday morning we all got up and got ready. We went to the church and prepared for the baptism. It was a special day for Jeremy and I know he felt the spirit and knew that he was doing what Heavenly Father wanted him to do.

Here are some pictures from that special morning.

Grandma and Grandpa gave him a bible with his name printed on it and a new case that will hold his Book of Mormon and Bible. He was excited about this gift and has started reading the New Testament.
When the baptism was over, we headed home to get ready to celebrate his birthday. I have been reading the Harry Potter books with Jeremy this summer and we are really enjoying them. So he decided that Harry Potter was going to be the theme of his party.
We ate lunch, and then enjoyed some activities about Harry Potter that I had printed off the computer. We had made magic wands (pretzel rods dipped in chocolate with sprikles on the ends). Thank you Aunt Holly for making them look so wonderful.
We had a lot of fun and Grandpa Crandall even made home made ice cream. Yum!!!
Jeremy has been asking for a Nintendo DS for months. So we decided to tell anyone who asked us about a gift to just give him money towards buying the system. Because of this, almost every card he opened had money that fell out of it. By the time he was through he had more than enough to buy the system and a couple of games for it. He was really excited. It was really fun to watch him get so excited as he realized what he was going to be able to do.
Now he needs to get busy writing his thank yous!

I think I just accidently deleted the picture of him blowing out his candle. OOPS, Sorry!

After all the excitement of the day, I couldn't bear to fix another meal at my house, so we went out to dinner. The kids did really well at their own table. It was a really great day and we are glad that so many were able to be here to share it with us. We know that there are others who wish they could have been here too and we are greatful for that and understand that it is not always possible to be everywhere we would like to be. We felt your spirits here and appreciate your support of Jeremy at this special time in his life.
