The Houston Rodeo

The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo is a grand tradition here. People look forward to it every year. Since we have lived here we have not had the opportunity to go until this year. Brian works with someone who had passes to go and they were not going to use them for one of the nights, so they let us use them. We invited some friends, who also had never been, and off we went.

We started off walking around the livestock show and the shopping booths that were set up. As we were walking, the purse that I had brought with me fell off of my shoulder. I picked it up and realized that the strap had broken. So I HAD to buy a new purse and if I'm at the rodeo and live in Texas, I have to get one with the Texas flag on it. Here is the picture.

Soon we headed out to find something to eat. We all ended up eating baked potatoes smothered in shredded barbeque beef, cheese and sour cream. They were really good. Then we were off to the rodeo.
The passes that we had allowed us to sit where ever we wanted as long as no one else had a ticket for that seat. During the rodeo we got to sit about 4-5 rows up from the action. It was a lot of fun. We saw:

Bare Back Bronco Riders. . . .

Calf Ropers . . .

Barrel Racers. . .

Bull Riders . . .

Chuck Wagon Races. . . .

Calf Scramble and more.
At the end of the rodeo they have a concert. The concert for this evening was Taylor Swift. We were really excited to see her, but the concert was sold out and we weren't sure if we were going to be able to keep our seats or not. We had to move a couple of times, but as the rodeo ended we were still in some pretty good seats and we thought we were going to be good for the concert. At the last minute, someone came who had tickets for those seats, so we had to move. There were not any other seats close to where we were, so we decided to go up and try to get a look at where we could go. There still wasn't anything, so we went up a few levels and still never found any seats. So we stood and listened to her sing about 5 songs. Then when we couldn't take the screaming of the little girls next to us anymore we decided to leave the concert. Here are a couple of pictures of Taylor:

It was fun, even if we didn't have a seat to the concert. We enjoyed being with our friends. Thanks to them we have these pictures. I had my camera, but I had taken the SD card out earlier that day and had not put it back in the camera, so I couldn't take any pictures. Thanks for sharing your pictures with me Katie!!
We hope to be able to take the kids next year. Maybe then we will have a seat.
